Q. What does 661 mean??
A. 661 tells you how the student will do their programme – 6 months in home country, then 6 months in New Zealand to complete the qualification, gives them a 1 year graduate job search visa.

Q. As a SBG 661 Associate – what do I have to provide for students?
A. You need to provide:
  • a well lit and ventilated learning space
  • sufficient computers and high-speed internet access
  • a suitable staff member to supervise students and to be the SBG 661 support liaison person

Q. What programmes are offered in the 661 option?
A. New Zealand Institute of Management diplomas – the NZIM Diploma in Management (Level 5) – 6 papers total; and the NZIM Diploma in Management (Advanced) Level 6 – 8 papers total.

Q. Can I recruit for 661 programmes at any time?
A. Yes, students can start their 661 programme as soon as they have paid the fee.

Q. Do I need to provide the 661 tutor?
A. No, SBG provides the tutor/s.

Q. How will SBG ‘teach’ the 661 programme?
A. For each paper, students work through the online learning materials, submit assessments, and when these are complete, student clears the paper. All the learning materials that students need to help them complete the assessments are on a website that the student has a login and password to access. Students contact their SBG tutor on the forum, or by Skype, or email. There are also SBG support staff who can help with questions and concerns.

Q. How do students submit assignments?
A. Students email their assignments to their tutor.

Q. Can 661 students study completely at home?
A. Yes, so long as they have a good computer and internet access.

Q. When can students apply for their Visa for Semester two in NZ?
A. Students can apply anytime after they have successfully cleared two papers.

Q. Do students need an IELTS score for Semester one?
A. No, but when they apply for Semester two, they need an IELTS of 5.5 (for faster processing of their Visa)

Q. Is their any age barrier to the 661 programme?
A. Not for Semester one, but students must be at least 18 by the time they arrive in NZ for Semester two.

Q. What’s the entry level for Semester one?
A. 10 + 2

Q. Can students work in NZ while they are studying?
A. Yes, students can work up to 20 hours per week on their student visa, and full-time in the vacations.

Q. What do students get when they graduate?
A. Students get the NZIM Diploma in Management (Level 5) plus an SBG Diploma in Management (Level 5). Plus they are eligible to apply for the One year graduate job search visa.

Q. Is SBG’s 661 programme approved by NZQA and NZ Immigration?
A. Yes, the programme and SBG has all the correct approvals and accreditations.

Q. Does SBG have successful students in NZ from the 661 programme?
A. Yes, a number of students have successfully graduated in NZ from the programme.

Q. What is the timeframe for second semester 661 applications at Immigration?
A. Second semester applications are dealt with the same as for the full-year direct to NZ programme.

Q. Has SBG got any approvals from other agents for second semester?
A. Yes, we have a steady number coming through all the time.

Q. What do I need to do to become an SBG Associate and start the 661 Programme?
A. You need to:
  • Sign Associate’s Agreement
  • Ensure you have sufficient computers with high-speed internet access for the numbers you wish to enrol
  • Have eligible students for 661
  • Have appropriate staff to supervise students
  • Have a quiet, well-lit and well-ventilated (air-conditioned) study room
